The Zanskar Trek is best undertaken in late summer, around the end of July, when water levels are manageable for the numerous crossings along the trail. This classic trek offers a journey through lush green trails, serene valleys, and the remote Shade Village, untouched by roads or modern technology.

Its pristine landscapes and rugged charm make it one of the last truly authentic treks in Ladakh, ideal for adventurers seeking an off-the-grid experience surrounded by nature and tradition.

This trek takes you through the remote region of Zanskar, crossing several high passes and leading to both inhabited and abandoned villages in the Shun Valley. Along the way, we will witness the old, deserted houses in the Shun villages—silent reminders of a time when people once lived here before relocating due to water shortages. These villagers have now resettled in Serchu, near the Manali–Leh Highway. From here, the trail crosses Morang La and enters the Kharnak Valley in the Changthang region, once known for its pashmina and salt. In earlier times, salt from this area was traded across Ladakh and Zanskar. In exchange, people would bring back wheat and barley, carried on the backs of sheep and goats.

Day 3: visit Alchi, Mangyu, monastey and drive to Lamayuru overnight in Lamayuru.

Day 4: Drive to karsha via singe la.

Day 5: visit karsha sani and padum and drive to Zangla camp.

Day 6: Zangla to Sumdo.

Day 7: Sumdho to Kolumts.

Day 8:  Kolumts to Niri via Niri la.

Day 9: Niri to Lar via Lar la.

Day 10: Lar to Shade via orthang la.

Day 12: Shade to Nyalokontse.

Day 13: Nayalkontse to Hormochey via Nyalkontse la and Gotungtala.

Day 14: Hormochey to Satak.

Day 15: Satak to Tsokmitisik.

Day 16: Tsokmitisik to Morang la bc.

Day 17: Morang la bc to Takstago.

Day 18: Takstago to Lung via Bong la.

Day 19: Lung to Zabuk.

Day 20: Drive to Spangchen.

Day 21: Drive to Tsokar lake and drive to Leh.

Day 22: Fly to Delhi.
